COMMON DETAILING QUESTIONS
How long does a full detail take?
A complete detail typically takes between 2 to 3 hours depending on the size and condition of the vehicle. More intensive services like paint correction or interior deep cleaning may take longer.
What’s the difference between a car wash and auto detailing?
A car wash is a quick surface clean, while auto detailing is a thorough, deep cleaning of your vehicle inside and out. Detailing includes services like paint decontamination, polishing, shampooing carpets, and conditioning leather.
How often should I get my vehicle detailed?
Most customers benefit from a full detail every 3 to 4 months. However, regular maintenance details every 4–6 weeks help keep your vehicle in top condition and protect its value.
Will detailing remove scratches from my car?
Light scratches and swirl marks can often be reduced or removed through polishing or paint correction. However, deep scratches may require additional repair or touch-up.
What does ceramic coating do?
Ceramic coating forms a durable, invisible layer on your vehicle’s paint that repels water, dirt, and contaminants. It enhances gloss, protects against UV rays, and makes maintenance much easier.
How long does ceramic coating last?
With proper care, our premium ceramic coatings — like those from GYEON — can last 2 to 5 years or more, depending on the package and driving conditions.
Does ceramic coating prevent scratches?
Ceramic coatings offer light surface resistance to swirls and micro-scratches, but they are not a substitute for Paint Protection Film (PPF) if you’re looking to block stone chips or deeper impact damage.
Do I need paint correction before ceramic coating?
In most cases, yes. Applying ceramic coating over uncorrected paint locks in any existing imperfections. We always assess your paint and recommend correction if needed before applying the coating.
Can I still wash my car normally?
Yes — in fact, your car will stay cleaner longer and be easier to wash. We recommend touchless or two-bucket hand washing and avoiding harsh chemicals to maintain the coating.
What is paint correction?
Paint correction is the process of removing imperfections in your vehicle’s clear coat — including swirl marks, light scratches, oxidation, and hazing — using machine polishing and professional techniques. It restores depth, gloss, and clarity to your paint.
Will paint correction fix all scratches?
Paint correction can remove or greatly reduce light to moderate surface scratches, but deep scratches that have penetrated the clear coat or base paint may still be visible. We’ll assess your vehicle to set the right expectations before we begin.
Is paint correction safe for my vehicle?
Yes — when done by trained professionals like our team at BTN Detailing. We use advanced tools and precise techniques to correct the paint without compromising the integrity of your clear coat.
Do I need a ceramic coating or PPF after paint correction?
We highly recommend it. After correction, your paint is at its best — applying a ceramic coating or PPF will protect that finish and make it easier to maintain long-term.
